The Customer Need

One tool fits all. | Our client identified hydrogen early on as a key strategic energy source. Producing green hydrogen requires specialized facilities—electrolyzers—which are powered by renewable energy. Since such energy isn’t constant, optimizing electrolyzer operations becomes a complex challenge. The goal was to build an application that factors in variables like renewable energy availability and storage capacities (e.g. batteries) and calculates the most efficient plant setup. The main users? The client’s technical sales team.

Challenges & Extra Miles

Do the math! |  This project called not just for expertise in hydrogen production and plant design, but also some serious math. And who better to tackle that than astrophysicists? Our innovation partner OmegaLambdaTec brought exactly that to the table. They translated the problem into a sophisticated optimization model to calculate the best possible plant layout based on a complex web of parameters.

Innovation Strategy

Built-in scalability for maximum flexibility | A Minimum Viable Product (MVP) lays the foundation. From there, iterative loops help evolve the app toward its innovation goals. Rapid feedback cycles, testable outputs, and constant improvement were the name of the game. At the same time, we built a scalable architecture and infrastructure setup based on Azure and Kubernetes. The app is designed to scale both in software functionality and infrastructure capability.

Innovation

App with room to grow. |  The scope of digital applications evolves over time. We started the MVP with core functionality—and followed up with more “nice-to-haves.” Sometimes, those early insights change everything. What began as a sales tool has matured into an expert system for detailed analysis and design of green hydrogen facilities. Pivoting done right.

Technical Solution

Stay flexible, always. |  We always recommend modern technologies that match the client’s goals—while factoring in any infrastructure and tech stack constraints.

Technical Milestones

Fast, focused, and methodically on point:

  • Defined specs via epics and user stories

  • Designed solution architecture

  • Rolled out infrastructure and staging in the client's Azure cloud

  • Developed in agile sprints (SCRUM)

  • MVP live after just 3 months

  • Feature expansions in 6-month phases

Big Wins

From proof-of-concept to product maturity. |  In a partner ecosystem, everyone brings their best—and someone orchestrates it all. Our mission was to deliver an end-to-end solution, including future upgrades for the prototype. Mission accomplished.

  • 3 months in - MVP released

  • 9 months later phase two went live

  • 50 percent reduction in compute time per optimization cycle

  • 15 months Now also powering green ammonia plant calculations.

Small Victories

  • Customer-centric through and through We kept our client’s end users in mind too. Our designers ensured a modern UX that speaks to everyone involved.

  • Interdisciplinary team success Innovation needs diverse minds. We brought together a team of pros from multiple fields.

  • Secured a long-term innovation partner Our client is a true driver of the green energy movement—and now, thanks to our ecosystem, they’ve got the momentum and the right partners to keep pushing forward.
