The Customer Need

From data to business value | Building a data-driven business model. As a manufacturer of wire mesh and industrial machinery, HAVER & BOECKER had already implemented data collection systems before we joined the journey. But data alone doesn’t solve problems – if anything, it often adds complexity. The goal? Create data-based, customer-centric services. Our first workshops focused on identifying promising digital business innovations and prioritizing them based on customer value, revenue potential, and time-to-market.

Challenges & Extra Miles

Start from scratch. |  The ambition to actively shape their own digital transformation was strong. So, we explored innovative business models, tech solutions, new capabilities, and a digital-ready corporate culture. For HAVER & BOECKER, driving digital change through iterative cycles proved to be the smartest approach

Digital Strategy

Step-by-step for faster innovation After an initial analysis, one thing was clear: a one-shot digital makeover wouldn’t work. Our long-term digital strategy followed a five-step roadmap:

  • Build digital skills across HAVER & BOECKER teams

  • Identify, test, and scale digital business models

  • Decide: make or buy the right tech

  • Set up an ecosystem of partners and suppliers for digital transformation

  • Establish a digital culture: focus on customer centricity, agile working, and a safe space for learning and failure

Business Innovation

HAVER & BOECKER’s digital journey kicks off with IoT  | The starting point: “Track your Plant” – a solution for real-time monitoring and optimization of packaging systems. Service teams can now access system performance, benchmark it, and proactively offer tailored improvements.

Technical Solution

Laying the foundation for the future with HAVER & BOECKER’s IoT platform |  Using our blu BEYOND IoT bluprint, we supported the agile development and rapid implementation of a scalable IoT platform. This new platform is the centerpiece for all future IoT features and applications. It allows teams to map user stories and identify customer needs while supporting efficient, secure execution of upcoming IoT projects.

Technical Milestones

  • Machine connectivity from retrofitted edge devices to embedded tech for new machinery generations

  • Cloud setup cloud strategy, implementation, and operations

  • Custom IoT Plattform built using blu BEYOND’s IoT bluprint

  • App development for data-driven use across production, marketing, and service

Big Wins

Taking charge of the digital journey |  Our mission as a digital partner is to empower our clients to write and own their digital roadmap. We gave HAVER & BOECKER the launchpad: a tailored platform that fuels all their upcoming IoT initiatives.

  • Over 100 machines connected

  • 12 types of machinery integrated

  • 5 continents connected through smart IoT solutions

  • Positive ROIC in a short time

Small Victories

  • Digital culture established Employees now learn to build digital services directly on the job through action-based training.

  • Increased digital maturity The new digital business model also brought optimization to legacy processes at HAVER & BOECKER.

  • Innovation ecosystem built With IT and hardware sourcing aligned, HAVER & BOECKER now has a solid partner network for all future IoT projects.

  • Internal digital teams in place Knowledge transfer has paid off: teams are now equipped to develop business models and IT architecture independently.

  • "Working with blu BEYOND taught us two things. First, there’s no such thing as THE Internet of Things – only OUR Internet of Things. Second, digital transformation isn’t something that happens to us. It’s something we actively shape – through new digital business models, automation, and strategic upskilling."
