Günther, what does a business analyst at @bluBEYOND actually do?
A business analyst like me works at blu BEYOND in the pharmaceutical sector, for example. I support the product managers by attending meetings with various groups of people and trying to understand the key points and present them in an appealing way. I then present the results to the relevant stakeholders. Ideally, this solves the current challenges of the project and everyone pulls together.
What do you see as the biggest challenge?
Finding the right balance between investigative probing and open-minded listening.
Does your work differ depending on the industry you are working in?
Absolutely. In the pharmaceutical industry, for example, the forms and processes of communication are much more progressive than in mechanical engineering.
Are you often on site with customers?
It makes sense to be on site for certain appointments, such as major planning meetings or factory tours.
How important is the team or project management in your job?
Good cooperation with both PM and my colleagues is essential – without them, my job would be impossible.
Be honest, Günther: have you ever regretted being a business analyst?
Hahaha... now and then. Especially when problems seem unsolvable, I would rather be a requirements engineer with a clearly defined task and a handful of contacts. But as we all know, you grow with your tasks 😊.
