Team Interview
Jonas
I build the foundation in the backend – and learn something new every day thanks to strong team spirit.
You haven’t been with us long — how did you settle in at blu BEYOND?
Very quickly! The team I was assigned to respected me right away despite my young age and immediately welcomed me as part of the group. I always have colleagues around who help me expand my knowledge — and I hope the reverse is true too 😉
How was your onboarding?
Wonderful! I started on a Monday, and by the end of the week I was already “up & running” and able to contribute productively!
You mainly work in the backend — how would you describe your current role in the team?
I see myself as an important part of a well-oiled machine. Together with my colleagues, we implement requirements, with each person contributing their expertise — whether in logic processes, security requirements, or architecture.
How do you find the communication between backend and frontend developers at blu BEYOND? And what could be improved?
Everyone has their own area where they feel confident and knowledgeable. But that doesn’t mean we stay in our own bubbles — quite the opposite: we’re interested in each other’s topics, want to keep learning, and develop a better understanding so we can support each other even more effectively.
When do you actively get involved in frontend work, and when do you leave it to others?
I always try to help where I can provide the most value or where the most support is needed.
What role does backend development play for you in the bigger picture of a software project?
Saying the backend is the most important part of a project would be wrong — every area is important and everything is interconnected. Every person working on a project contributes in their own way. In the backend, we lay the foundation that everything else is built on — but a foundation alone is useless if no house is built on top of it.
How do you like the work environment at the blu BEYOND office?
I’m rarely in the office myself, as I’ve developed my own working style over the years that suits me well. That’s why I really appreciate that blu BEYOND makes that possible.
What challenges do you currently see in your project area?
Right now, I don’t see any major challenges — we’re working together smoothly! Of course, there’s always room to grow, but at the moment I feel well-integrated and productive.
What advice would you give to new colleagues in backend development?
Don’t isolate yourself in a bubble. If you’re curious and willing, explore new things — once you have a basic understanding of software development, almost all doors are open to you. That’s rare in most professions, and it would be a shame not to take advantage of those opportunities.
Describe blu BEYOND in three words!
Dynamic, Appreciative, Learning-oriented
Is there anything else you’d like to say?
I’m happy to have found an employer where I can be myself: a little quirky, but passionate about what I do — and where I’m supported when I want to try something new.
