Team Interview
Anna
Flexibility, involvement and a strong team: in this interview, Anna explains what makes blu BEYOND so special to her.
You've been working at blu BEYOND for quite some time now. What has kept you loyal to the company?
I feel incredibly comfortable at blu and have done so for years. I really appreciate all the benefits, especially the flexibility that my job here offers me. We also have an incredibly great and helpful team that I really enjoy working with and look forward to going to work every day.
What has changed over the years—both positively and negatively?
I’ve felt incredibly comfortable at blu for years. I truly value all the benefits, especially the flexibility my work offers here. On top of that, we have an amazing and supportive team that I really enjoy working with—and that makes me look forward to work every day.
Positive: We keep evolving, stay open to change and continue building a team of great people.
Negative: We still don’t have 30 days of vacation 😉
Editor’s note: Since 2026, we now all have 30 days of vacation. We take our employees’ feedback very seriously. 😉
How do you feel about the flexible working hours at blu BEYOND? And what is particularly important to you for your work-life balance?
I love the flexibility I have at blu. This personal responsibility is extremely important to me, as my work-life balance is based on it. The fact that I have the opportunity to attend or teach a yoga class early in the morning and therefore start a little later, or to finish earlier due to my horse or other private commitments, is a very important asset for me.
One of your areas of responsibility is customer service. What challenges do you regularly encounter when dealing with customers?
I really love and appreciate working with a wide variety of personalities. The biggest challenge is to correctly read the person behind the customer contact and adapt to them. I still find it difficult to address unpleasant topics, but here too, I learn a lot every time and grow from it.
What does your typical working day at the office look like? And how does it differ from working from home?
Office: I arrive at the office between 7 and 9 a.m. and start with a coffee and a quick good morning round of the office. 😊
Then I check my emails and work through the day's to-do list. In between, operational issues can regularly come up at short notice, meaning I don't get to tick everything off my to-do list.
At lunchtime, I eat with my colleagues who are in the office and we chat about everything except work 😉
Depending on when I started and what deadlines are coming up, I leave the office again.
Home office: When working from home, I usually start a little earlier with a coffee or tea, get myself organised for the day by checking my emails and reviewing my to-do list. Here, I actually still rely on my classic blu notebook 😊
Lunch is usually a bit dull when working from home, especially if there are no leftovers from the day before.
Otherwise, I really appreciate it when I get to chat with one or two colleagues on the phone while working from home. Since our policy is to have our cameras on, we can see each other.
What do you particularly appreciate about the working atmosphere at blu BEYOND?
That every idea is heard and discussed and that you can really get involved. Also that we don't just do our jobs by the book and insist on only doing the tasks specified in our employment contracts, but that we all help each other and no one is above doing anything. It couldn't work any other way in a medium-sized company. It's a collaborative environment, not a case of working side by side or even a dog-eat-dog mentality.
You took a 4.5-month sabbatical. How did that fit in with your work at blu BEYOND?
I remember exactly how Michael reacted to my request 😉 Especially because I was the first person at blu who wanted to take a sabbatical. And I'm very happy that it worked out back then. When you're away for a long period of time, organisation and planning are the most important things, as well as having a team that is willing to cover for you and take over your most important tasks for a certain period of time. We live this mentality in our team, so that my sabbatical a few years ago, as well as my parental leave this year, was very well covered by several colleagues in the team and was a great time for everyone.
You are actively involved in information security. Are there any areas where you see room for improvement?
Of course, just because we have been audited and received a label does not mean that everything is running perfectly. These issues are particularly about acceptance; all colleagues must be willing to pull together. There is always room for improvement everywhere, and information security is an ongoing process that we started a few years ago and are now continuously developing.
