Christian

Technical enabler with drive: From PoC to strategy – always close to the customer.

What are your responsibilities as a Software Architect at blu BEYOND?

In a project context, I keep an eye on the big picture. There are always multiple possible solutions, and it’s important to work with the team to identify the most beneficial ones for the customer. In a sales context, I present technical solution options even though we don’t yet know all the customer’s parameters in detail. A lot of it comes down to intuition and being able to communicate on an abstract yet personal level that the solution we at blu BEYOND propose will optimally solve the customer’s problem. On a company level, I help shape strategic direction — ensuring long-term internal knowledge development and increasing the company’s overall solution competence.

What do you consider the most important qualities for this role?

Experience definitely helps, but more than that, it’s about having the drive to define the solution space yourself through PoCs.
– Not taking yourself too seriously. It helps to see yourself as a technical enabler.
– Being open to making mistakes and learning from them.
– Not getting too frustrated when things repeat themselves.
– Even if you’ve seen a lot, being willing to support innovation and having a good sense of when something is for early adopters vs. the late majority.

What do you enjoy most?

Fine-tuning the quality–price–time triangle for each customer so that it matches their expectations. It’s also challenging to switch between projects depending on the required technical or logical depth. Often, I’m involved in several projects at once.

Do you have any ideas for improving your role?

For me, it’s important that work and personal life stay separate — which is often blurred by “feel-good” events. But that’s just my personal opinion.

How do you unwind after work?

Chasing after my son — and the fact that I’m not expected to be reachable after work helps a lot.

Why are you at blu BEYOND?

Originally, it was the “Best Place to Work” reputation. Why I’m still here is because the work model at blu BEYOND is so diverse that it’s almost like switching companies regularly. And if the salary is right, there’s little incentive to go “company hopping.” You feel valued, among other things, because you’re presented and treated as an expert in projects — not just a resource. Many people wonder whether to work at a small or large company, and at blu BEYOND, you get both. Our clients include both corporations and mid-sized businesses.
